The number one online network for Internet premium information for buyers and sellers of health insurance and employee benefits, HealthConnect Systems, announced today that the NYC Health Insurance Link is run by its technology. The system went online at a ceremony in which the host was Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. The website was developed by the Office of Citywide Health Insurance Access (OCHIA) and Management Information Systems (MIS), of New York City, together with divisions of the city’s Human Resources Administration/Department of Social Services (HRA/DSS). It is designed to bring to New York City residents and small businesses high quality health insurance access.
The president and CEO of HealthConnect Systems, Peter Everett said that New York City is among the first governmental entities to create a health insurance website by which its citizens can receive accurate, and complete information about available health insurance plan options that is also unbiased. Everett said that his company is pleased to have been selected by the City to help them to power the NYC Health Insurance Link. He said that they are looking forward to working with them in the future in efforts to enhance the site even more.
Called by the acronym NYC HI Link, the NYC Health Insurance Link is designed to assist New York City residents and New York City small business owners to locate health insurance plans that are suitable to their needs. Through this cite, New Yorkers are able to compare the costs and benefits of selected health plans, to consider various strategies for making their coverage more affordable, and can learn some basic tenets regarding health insurance, like the definitions of the words that insurers are using and creation facts with regard to consumer protections. This website represents the first of its kind in New York. The website makes available to the general public an on-line, unbiased resource, that is put together for the benefit of the consumer, and which provides the public with detailed information with regard to the costs and benefits of the particular plans that are available in New York City, and does it in a way that allows consumers to have a better understanding of the products and the ability to compare different plans. It also acts as an aid to employers by assisting them in their hunt to find methods for better affording health insurance coverage for their employees and, in some cases it can help individuals to find ways to join together public and private health insurance.
Central to the Office of Citywide Health Insurance Access aim is to allow consumers to acquire unbiased information regarding available health plans that is also complete. To make this possible, OCHIA has been using the services of the Connecticut-based HealthConnect Systems, which is the leading provider in the nation for multi carrier comparison tools. It asked them to provide a site that would present a full range of plans representing all New York City health carriers, with a complete description of each plan.
HealthConnect Systems formed a strategic partnership in May of 2009, with The Trizetto Group to provide all health insurance industry participants.
